Euro Millions Jackpots - why do they vary?

I was chatting to my irish lotto agent recently who has taken over the purchase of euro tickets for a couple of weeks and discovered that the euro jackpots in different countries vary - quite considerably.

Take this week for example:

On the uk national lotto site the jackpot is advertised as: 18 million pounds
Nationallottery

On the Irish lotto site the jackpot is advertised as: 15 million euro...
Irish Lotto (scroll halfway down the page).
It does seem odd to say the least:

15 million eur = around 10 million GBP... quite a massive difference if you ask me.

So whats going on? Has the Irish lotto got it wrong (their website is much to be desired as it stands... or is it due to the uk lotto costing a lot more per ticket...

1.50 GBP = around 2.30EUR

An interesting thought to say the least.

While on the subject of the euro lotto why not have a game!

You can play online with thebigbiglotto.com:

Thebigbiglotto is a scam. They don't return any money, they don't reply emails

Actually they are not a scam. I know the company and the guys running it.

Its a hell of a lot of hard work and they bend over backwards for their customers.

May I suggest "registering" with their help desk.

Actually I work for them, instead of making inane comments like that, why not give us your details and we can rectify the problem

I have received an alleged winning notice on a "cyber-drawing" for the euro millions.
Needless to say, the "winning numbers" that they sent match nothing from the euro millions website...email asks for basic personal info but no sensitive stuff. Yahoo return address...anyone have a clue? smells like a scam to me!
